Target Read Across America trip

We took our boys to Target this morning for the Dr. Seuss reading event. The two younger ones were so happy, actually our 7 yr old seemed alittle bored, but he had been studying Dr. Seuss all week in school and will be dressing up as Thing 2 on Tuesday for a class project. Our youngest just sat enthralled with the whole thing and loved the stories.

I did take my coupon book with me, and of course my darling hubby rolled his eyes as usual. He asked are we couponing today? I just laughed and told him I was only looking for a couple of things.

I purchased 4 Gillette body and face shower washes 8.5oz and 4 of the hair and body washes. They are regular price of $1.99 each and I used 4 $4.00 off two coupons from the 2-21 P&G insert. I also purchased a Rimmel Mascara for $2.24 and used the $3.00 off coupon from March ALL You magazine.(Needed the mascara thanks to my middle one using mine to paint stripes on things) I also got hubby an energy drink for being so patient with my searching for stuff. My total came to $2.42, which was $0.66 before taxes and $1.76 of taxes. I thought that was a great deal.

I don't usually buy so many of one product, but with older sons, two brothers, and a nephew birthday all going on I figured what better way to get them something they can use and it not break the bank for us!!!

Surprise in mail today from P&G

I go to several sites a day to check out different things if I have time. At the Proctor & Gamble site they were having where you could request a sample of the new Pampers that are coming out next month. Their must have been some mix-up in their system, because my postal carrier came to my door today with 5 boxes!! I was completely shocked!!! Did not realize what samples it was, figured maybe one of several different ones I had ordered. By was I wrong!!!!! They were 5 boxes all of the Pampers samples!!!!!! Each package had 3 diapers each in them, a total of 15 diapers free!!!!!!!!! To me that is almost the same amount in a small package, and didn't have to pay for anything!!

Of course the Hotwheels were to occupy my little monster while shopping, keeps his collection growing and small price to pay. Also the donuts were a impulse buy at register for him as well. Trash bags were because we were out at house.
I do know that I have much better coupons for the cereals, but we were out so just decided to get some for breakfast. Like I said, this was a last minute trip, so I was not as prepared as usual. I usually spend an hour or two after boys go to bed getting ready to shop with ad and coupon matchups, but I still feel that I did well with this trip. I put the links for the coupons I used, hopefully you can copy and paste and be able to get those coupons as well.

Looking for Comments

I would love to see what you think of my blog. I would love to see your comments, questions, or any deals that you have come across yourself!! I am working very hard on trying to be more active each day with this and start posting more deals that I find or link to some from other sites and blogs that I run across. Am also looking to get more active with couponing and passing along what I find to my blog readers.

I am currently in the process of still learning about blogging so please bear with me and there are those days that I just don't have time to get on here. I do hear the questions on how do I not have time to do more, since I stay at home and don't work. Actually I do work, I am a wife and mother of three. I do the housework while my husband works all day, which I admit some days doesn't get quite finished or done as I would like. I have a very active 2 1/2 year old at home all day, who is going through the no napping phase. I absolutely cannot ignore him to donate all my spare time to being online. He is not one of those kids who likes to play by himself, so I spend alot of my day playing cars or things like that. I also get up at 5:30 every morning to get our 7 and 13 yr old off to school and when they get home at 4 it is time to cook dinner and do homework. Then before bed I like to spend time with my boys and husband when he gets home from work. I also do all the shopping and errand running during the day with my youngest because I value our family time in the evenings. I actually enjoy cooking dinner and helping the boys with homework and just relaxing and talking with my husband and us playing with our boys. Some nights, by the time showers, baths, and bedtime routines are done, I am just to exhausted from the day to be able to get online. My wonderful husband has more than once offered to help out in evening by completely occupying the boys so that I can concentrate on blog, but alot of nights, honestly I just want to have family time with them. So, if you don't see a post for a day or I miss something, please don't be upset.

I really want to get my blog up and going and be able to help out others with great deals and everything, but I just can't do it full-time everyday. We can't afford daycare and that is beyond okay with me, as I enjoy my time with my boys, but it does put me behind sometimes.

Thank you all.

Huggies wipes deal at CVS

I saw on several other sites that some CVS stores have the large package of refill wipes on sale for 2/$5.00. I know the ad shows the tubs as being on sale, but the large refill packages that are regularly $7.99 each are ringing up for this price as well!!! This is a great deal. Here is what I did today to get an even better deal on these due to the fact that I don't have any huggies wipes coupons.

I scanned my CVS card at the price scanner to see if I had any printable coupons available. I received a $5/$15 purchase. I was going to purchase Dr.Pepper anyways, since it is all my darling hubby drinks. They are 4/$13 with $3 extra care bucks back.

I purchased 4 12-packs of Dr. Pepper and 2 large wipe refill packages(did check price at scanner first to make sure they would ring up at that price). I used my $5/$15 cpn so basically only paid for Dr. Pepper. I then did another transaction of 2 more large refill packages of wipes and used my $3 extra care bucks and only paid $2 plus tax. It worked out where I basically only paid $2 plus tax for 4 large refill huggies wipes packages which normally run $7.99 a each before taxes!!! What a wonderful deal this is. Now I won't need wipes for some time, hopefully son will be fully potty trained before I run out!!!!!!!

Winn Dixie new coupons

I ran into Winn Dixie yesterday to just pick up some hamburger for dinner. While there I grabbed a couple of cans of Pillsbury grands that are on sale this week. I received a very nice surprise at checkout. A $2.00 of next purchase, manufacturer cpn from Pillsbury!!!!!!! This cpn is not for pillsbury product, it is just like Walgreens Register Rewards.

I am ecstatic, as this is great for Publix, who will take this cpn. I was starting to get upset with Winn Dixie, as they seem to be stopping the $10 off $50 cpn for purchases and now printing out $5 off $75 purchase cpns. Those are not that great of a cpn to me. So keep your eyes out for those!!

Great Birthday Goody bag ideas

Having three boys, even spaced as ours are can be hard on our budget for birthdays. I always seem to be struggling to make goody bags for our guests, which consists of almost all family. With my middle one having a birthday at the beginning of December, I got the idea a couple of years ago to hit the clearance sales after Halloween. It worked out great as he wanted a Spy themed party. The yellow crime scene type ribbon was perfect for decorations. I never think to look at other after holiday clearance sales.

This week, I thought about it since I have one with a birthday at the end of March and the youngest at the end of May. I found some great party favors(paddle balls, yo-yos, and fresbies) at Walmart for a quarter a piece the other day. Then yesterday at Target I went to their Valentines clearance section, which was 90% off. I spent about $2.50 and got tons of boxes of cards. Several of these boxes had pencils in them. What a great idea for party goody bags!! This also gives my 7 year old several choices for cards next year without having to pay the higher prices. I was thrilled.
Now I still have St. Patrick's day to go and then Easter clearance as well. I try to get the things that actually do not have the holiday theme or name on them and it works great.

Hope this helps out some others as well.
